Shaken, not stirred

Today's earthquake was scary. When it hit I was at work on the 10th floor of our 11th floor building. The quake shook the building hard for what felt like 1-2 minutes. The exterior of the building is about half made of glass, which is awesome most times but not during a big quake.

I thought of the twin towers collapsing and how standing in a doorway wouldn't help me if the entire building fell. That was the scary part. Luckily there was no damage and everyone was okay.

We evacuated the building when the shaking stopped. After another 20 minutes or so they closed the office for the day. They told us we could go back upstairs to get our things, and to take the afternoon to check on our homes and neighborhoods and spend time with our families. The last place I wanted to go was into another building so I spent some quality time outside processing it all.

Please, Mother Nature, no more earthquakes.
