Polo, anyone?

My friend Jeff's family hosts an annual charity polo match in Maryland. The fourth annual Ten Oaks Cup Polo Match to benefit Our Daily Bread will be held on June 6.

Hope to see you there!

(I need to go buy a cute hat.)

Baby!

My friend Akiyo is lucky to have a new colt in her family. She took me to visit him last week. I love foals - so sweet.

$222,000,000

The NC power ball jackpot is $222,000,000. The odds of winning are about the same as getting struck by lightning twice while riding a unicorn. So I bought two tickets when I was in NC this past weekend.

The drawing is today, which happens to also be my birthday. Fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes crossed!

Even if I don't win, the amount of daydreaming I've done this week has been well worth the $2.

Update: I didn't win. Sniff.

Can't hit the broad side of a . . .

Recently someone parked their SUV on a hill by the barn. The SUV rolled down the hill, through the side of the barn and into a horse's stall. In this picture, the hole's been patched with a piece of plywood. Luckily, the horses had been turned out to pasture when the SUV hit. I heard that the SUV didn't fare so well.

The war isn't over

or at least it wasn't over as of yesterday in Falls Church.

Duke

Duke's summer coat is in, and he's dappled all over - even on his shoulders. Here's a cute video of him asking for carrots.

Have you hugged your truck today?

I love big trucks, but it's not practical for me to own one (good luck parking one in Falls Church without irritating the neighbors). Alan asked me to drive his truck last weekend. I've hauled Duke and Gary with this truck, but this was my first time driving it unsupervised. Whee!

Google goats

The day may come when Duke and Gary can finally get jobs - as lawnmowers. Google recently rented a herd of hundreds of goats to clear a field near its Mountainview, CA headquarters. Great idea (assuming they want everything mowed - pretty flowers, shrubs, etc.)!

I had three goats when I was younger. Todd was my first goat. Isabel (Izzy) was my second, and Scooter was her son. Goats are cute and lots of fun. Good job, Google!

Here's an article about the Google goats.
