Waterproofing update

I talked to the power company this morning to get a status update on fixing that rusted pipe in the wall. They came out on the 23rd and looked at something on the outside, said it looked good and closed the work order. (The HOA was the main contact.) Today I opened up a new work order, this time with me as the main contact. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling again soon. . .

It's a girl!

On Monday my brother's wife gave birth to my third niece, Laura Camille Harris. When I have pictures, I'll post them.

Got the blues?

My Uncle, Scott Cochran, plays bass in a great blues band - Matt Woods and the Thunderbolts. They won the 2007 Iowa Blues Challenge Finals and used the studio time to record a new CD. Check out some of their music at MattWoodsMusic.com. The band plays regularly in Des Moines, IA.

Thanksgiving!

I was lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving with the Cullens this year. Erin's parents and brother came down from NY. It was so fun to celebrate with the Falconers and Cullens. Thank you, Erin!

CARFAX Turkey Bowl

Today was the annual CARFAX Turkey Bowl flag football game. We didn't have big turnout, but we had a lot of fun. Props to Chris for making it, despite mad plans for the weekend! And to Susana, because playing football with the guys takes guts.

2 more weeks

The waterproofing company originally ordered the wrong material for the walls. They ordered the correct materials this week, but it takes a week or two to get the materials in. Then they have to install them and finish up. So, 2 more weeks of hotel living for me.

To keep away the tuna-salad-again blues my friend Mark gave me some yummy lasagna that is nicely tiding me over. Thank you, Mark!

Waterproofing - Day 3

Yesterday I met with the contractor and checked out the work they did on day 3, Wednesday. They put in the sump pump and poured the concrete for the drain. Next steps: Take out the insulation and studs, and put up the walls.

Oh yeah - and fix the corroded pipe where the electricity comes in from the outside. The pipe is completely rusted through from the water damage - it actually has a hole in it.

Can't wait to see the final product.

Waterproofing - Day 2

Today is day 2 of the waterproofing project. They removed the water heater, drywall, and some flooring, drilled a ditch and also drilled the hole for the sump pump. The first casualty of war: my ceramic tissue box cover.

These pictures were taken in pitch darkness. No electricity, no flashlight (it was messing with the camera's flash).

Waterproofing - Day 1

Yesterday the workers started waterproofing my condo. They removed some kitchen cabinets and took great care of everything.
